Rachel's Instagram post:
I'm so pleased that I discovered restorative yoga, it's purely magical stuff. The more I practice, the more I fall in love with it. I spent years believing that yoga was about twisting yourself into an awkward pretzel, but this could not be further from the truth.
Yoga has nothing to do with competition or wacky contortion (although that's exceedingly awesome if you're capable!) It is not a performance and you don't need special expensive equipment to give it a go. A cheap mat, bed, or some floor space and pillows will do. Please don't believe that you're unable to practice if you're super poorly or very inflexible, it is for everyone and a session can be as incomplex as using pillows to support different body parts in bed united with focusing on your breathing.
Restorative yoga is about spending quality, watchful time nurturing your body and mind and is a fantastic tool for activating your parasympathetic nervous system, which is incredibly helpful for healing. It leaves me feeling more balanced, soothed and grounded, with a deep sense of lingering gratitude. It seriously is the best medicine. I finally understand the hype. Go on, give it a shot. Namaste!
